What do the Iranian officials rely on?

Recently almost every day it has been published a topic in connection with applying the sanctions against Iran. The foreign media gives coverage to the analyses on collapse of Iran. But the Iranian media states that these sanctions will not have any effect and on the contrary these sanctions are for Iran and against the Western, they say.

Actually it is obvious that both groups analyze wrongly the life style of the people in Iran and the present situation of the Iranian society. Either on purpose or partiality. The foreign press draws a conclusion comparing the standards in the normal countries with the Iranian society. But the internal press states authorities’ position with national and religious bias.

The sanctions applied against Iran aren’t ineffective on the economic situation in Iran. In spite of the opposite publicity of the authorities, 40-50% growth of inflation, rising in price of dollar almost twice, rising of gold for 130 percents demonstrate a collapse in the Iranian economy.

Before the Islamic revolution in Iran, economy of the country was going through the highest period of its history. At the end of Ghajar’s terms, when the Iranian people was suffering privation there was no idea of protest actions. The reform of Reza Shah and then rising in price of oil in Mohammadreza Shah’s terms and beginning of progress in the Iranian economy had brought finally to outburst of the Iranian people and to the revolution in 1979.

The sanctions applied against Iran not only oppress the Iranian government, but also put the people into difficulties. As a result of it, the Iranian state tries to clean itself from faults attributing its failures with the external factors.

For a purpose of preventing its collapse, the power tries to secure itself from collapse by giving Iran’s resources to other foreign powers under cheap and more profitable. Using the present situation Russia and China achieve to conclude profitable contracts with the Iranian officials. To mention, some news agencies have recently spread the information on concluding a secret contract between Russia and Iran on oil producing from the Caspian Sea. 46 oil and gas fields have been discovered in the Iranian part of the Caspian Sea, the Iranian sources stated on May 2011. These fields are located in 2400 meters depth of the sea. Some sources state the number of these fields being 71. But the official sources state 46 fields.

According to the information, under the contract concluded between Iran and Russia, exploitation of all of these fields was given to Russians and Russia will have 2/4 part of profits come from there. Furthermore, it was said in that information again that under this secret contract signed between Russia and Iran, the Russian military had a right to bring their forces up to 70 km of the Iranian border on the Caspian Sea. And it is connected with a purpose of protecting security of the fields. The contract was signed between by Masud Mirkazemi, the Minister of Petroleum of Iran acted in that period, and Shmatkov, Russia’s Minister of Petroleum. And the security appendix of the contract was signed by Hassan Firuzabadi, the Chief of General Staff of the IRI’s Armed Forces, as a special representative of Khamenei.

One of the interesting items in this document is a right of the Russian army to enter 70 km southern of Anzali and the Iranian territories any time it wants. The items like to protect the Iranian power and to defense the territorial integrity of Iran during NATO’s attacks against Iran are also indicated in the document.

But this contract hasn’t been confirmed or refuted by the parties yet.
