In the meeting with the journalists on Sunday the spokesman of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ramin Mehmanparast confirmed getting the message from the US administration concerning the Strait of Hormuz, but stated that a decision hasn’t been given yet on giving a response to it. He refused to give the information about the content of the letter.
The US authorities have delivered the letter to the Iranian officials through 3 different ways, Mehmanparast told. One copy of the letter has been delivered through the Swiss embassy to Tehran, another was delivered to the Iranian representative in the UN, and the third copy was sent to the Iranian officials by Jalal Talabani.
To note, the newspaper New-York Times gave the information about this letter last week. According to the information of the newspaper, the US authorities have given a notice to Khamenei not to close the Strait of Hormuz. By the information of the newspaper, it is stated in the letter that closing the Strait of Hormuz is considered a red line of the US and it will not allow it. The US will give a strict response to the initiatives of losing the Strait of Hormuz, the US officials noted in that letter too.
Ramin Mehmanparast said that the letter was being studied at the moment and it hadn’t been given a decision yet to response or not to this letter. The Strait of Hormuz is considered a main road of the Persian Gulf and providing the security of the Gulf is on the IRI, Mehmanparast stated. By his words, Iran will use all military forces for a purpose of providing the security of the Gulf.
