India can influence on Iran!

The Indian officials stated on February 9 their intention to increase the commercial relations with Iran. And just a day after it – on February 10, the European Union (EU) wanted the Indian officials to induce this country to start the discussions using the relations with Iran.

India is one of the countries importing oil from Iran in the great amount. It may reduce for a certain degree the pressure of the sanctions of the Western against Iran in case of the continuous and broad commercial relations of this country with Iran.

The Indian officials are trying to increase the commercial relations with Iran using the void arisen in a result of the sanctions imposed by the Western against this country. For this purpose the large delegation of India are going to Iran in these days.

After this decision of the Indian state, the head of the European Union Herman Van Rampoy gave the information on his meeting with the Indian officials conducting the press conference on Friday. Though he didn’t hint at the development of India-Iran relations, he pronounced anxiety of the Western states in regard to the nuclear program of Iran and wanted the Indian state to make Iran to agree to the negotiations using the relations with this country.

Though India’s Prime Minister didn’t give a straight answer to this proposal of the head of the European Union, he stated in his speech that Iran’s nuclear program had created some problems. India has a certain influence to protect stability in the Middle East and it is for resolving by diplomatic means of the nuclear problem arisen in regard to Iran, he stated.

To mention, India has recently met the problems in payment of crude oil gotten from Iran. In connection with the sanctions it isn’t possible to pay through any bank the funds, which has to be given to Iran. For this reason, it has arisen a problem of repayment of the arrears between two countries and no solution means has still been found for this problem. India and Iran have come to agreement to pay 45 % of these funds in rupee and 55 % in dollars. But with rupee of 45 %, the Iranian party can’t make an investment in India, but just purchase the consumer goods. Iran can import tea, rice, grain and irons from India.

But in the present stage, a position taken by India will have an importance in EU-Iran tension. Since the number of the states are increasing which support the sanction decisions adopted by the US, UN and EU. Even China, what is considered close to Iran, is trying to increase oil commerce with other Gulf countries. It is possible that India will follow the wishes of the EU at a certain extent, as the commerce with the EU is important for this country. And it may put Iran into difficulties.
