Russia blamed on the European Union

The spokesman of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexander Lukashevich blamed on Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs for interfering in the internal affairs of his country.

Lukashevich named “biased” the speech of Ashton in the European Parliament concerning the presidential elections what would be held in Russia and considered the speech as “an effort to interfere in the internal affairs of Russia”.

To mention, in his speech the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs Ashton invited the Russian government to establish a dialogue with the opposition and asked the officials to eliminate the constraints imposed on the opposition leaders in the election process.

This step of the EU seems unacceptable for the Russian administration in the context of the invitations heard in the Western on a queue of Russia after a process of “Arabian spring” and the tensions raised between the Russian Federation and Western due to the processes in Syria. If Russia doesn’t support a Syrian plan of the Western, it is expected that the forthcoming election process will be a subject of more tension both inside Russia and in the relations between the Russian Federation and European Union.
