The EU countries applied the sanction on Iran’s oil

The European Union countries have applied the sanction on import of Iranian oil. The EU countries’ officials agreed with applying an embargo on import of Iranian oil and entering into new contracts from now on. The organization’s officials also came to agreement in regard to keeping the present contracts in force till July.

The EU officials’ decision has had an effect on oil prices in the world immediately. The price of one barrel of oil reached 110.42 dollar in London exchange rising in price for 56 cents. The Union countries are the second greatest partner after China, importing oil from Iran. To mention, China imports approximately 22, and the EU countries about 18 percents of Iranian oil. Greece, Spain and Italy are among the countries importing more oil. It is supposed that the EU countries will apply the sanctions on the Iranian Central Bank and impose embargos on selling to Iran gold, jewels and other precious ores too.

To note, Iran has given a strict reaction against this decision and stated to close the Strait of Hormuz surely. But the British and Israeli officials stated the decision. The Chinese officials making a visit to the Gulf countries seem to do preparation in regard to a negative situation which may rise on the Strait of Hormuz. Most likely this decision would be “a beginning of the end” in the processes concerning Iran.

The EU and US have applied many sanctions against Iran for a purpose of stopping the nuclear program of this country. The UN Security Council has also reached 4 sanction resolutions against Iran up to now.

The Iranian officials have stated that they will close the Strait of Hormuz if the EU countries apply the sanctions on Iranian oil. Though these threats of the first deputy of the Iranian president was refuted by the Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Army, the Western countries are sending the new war-ships to the Gulf apprehending Iran to take such step. The war-ships belonging to France and England together with the US Abraham Lincoln war-ship entered the Gulf passing the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday.
